Default Upgrading Netgear DG834G (V3) firmware

I notice on Netgear's Web site that various firmware upgrades are
available for my router, in particular:

4.01.37 (for outside NA) 24/3/08

4.01.28 (for UK) 31/5/07

The question is, is it 4.01.37 or 4.01.28 that should be used in
the UK?

(After all, the UK is 'outside NA'!)

(Hope it's 4.01.37, as it fixes a problem with Noise margin
values sometimes being shown as a large positive number.)

Funnily enough I upgraded my DG834 V3 to 4.01.37 this morning.
This is not the wireless (G)version but I believe uses the same firmware.
Seems to be working fine and didn't even lose my logon settings.

I heard elsewhere that it also improves holding on to poor
connections.

Its supposed to. It has new DSL code in it to work around some problems
with the AR7 chipset that the router is based on. I've not noticed any
difference with mine.

Since the upgrade I've noticed that the connect speed has
dropped from around 4.3Mbps to 3.3Mbps, and the Noise margin has
gone up from the 0-5db range to 8-11db.
This will hopefully result in less/no dropouts, so I'm not
unhappy about the drop in speed.

However, I had also suggested to my ISP that the dropouts might
be caused by the exchange's ADSLMax controller trying to be too
generous with connect speeds, resulting in Noise margins
touching on 0db and hence dropouts.

So I don't really know whether it's the upgrade or BT that has
caused the change...

Anyone else noticed a diference yet?
