Hello,
My log updates every 5 seconds or so (adjustable) with line stats etc. Is there anyway I can log these stats on an ongoing basis? Not to be confused with the connection logs. Thanks. |

Not to be confused with the connection logs. How do you enable that bit? Not sure you can do that hence me looking for another program, the recommended one was excellent. The standard Netgear method for me is to go in to router status and then *show statistics* but as I said it updates every so many seconds and overwrites the previous entry, so no real log. I've got the connection log sending to a syslog daemon on another machine, so if I could send line stats the same way that would be really good. Sounds like you need the *lite* version of routerstats, the url is in previous message. |

I don't know how much snmp support there is, but it's got an snmpd file in /usr/sbin and http://netgear/snmp.htm brings up a menu. Doesn't on any of the ones I have access to.. Cant even telnet into em. Perhaps I'll add that to my list of things to look at. mrtg will do nearly everything you might want, once you know the MIB layout of the router, and if you want instant stats, and have apache and basic scripting you can use snmp to interrogate and make up a web page for almost anything you can read via snmp. But I would dearly love to know which netgear you have. None of the ones I have access support snmp, telnet or anything. |

Enable telnet using http://router_LAN_address/setup.cgi?todo=debug Eg: http://192.168.0.1/setup.cgi?todo=debug then: # telnet 192.168.0.1 BusyBox v1.00 (2008.11.17-03:13+0000) Built-in shell (ash) Enter 'help' for a list of built-in commands. # help Built-in commands: ------------------- . : alias bg break cd chdir continue eval exec exit export false fg hash help jobs kill let local pwd read readonly return set shift times trap true type ulimit umask unalias unset wait # Tony yup. did that. No snmpd tho. |
